Embark

It’s been a long way we’ve come,
And still longer get to go.
Like a birdling taking off from its nest,
Relishing excitement rather than woe.

Hear the song at the turn of its etude,
See the moon as the arc of its crescent —
the swan becomes the swan
as the butterfly dances translucent

we shall smile,
we shall embrace,
we shall remember.

For this —
this is the night where the boat set sail,
this is the dawn where the bird soared alone,
this is the next of the start and the start of the next,
where I shall proudly stand — on my own.
